In Search of Autumn

We decided that we needed to go out looking for signs of Fall.  While we know it's here, sometimes it's hard to recognize in the desert.  Our family would never complain about the lovely weather in the mid-80's that we've been experiencing lately, but it doesn't really inspire warm apple cider by the fireplace.  We went out searching for leaves that are starting to change color this week.  Most of the trees are still very green, it just hasn't been cold enough yet, but we did find some very tell-tell signs in the foliage that fall is indeed upon us.  The kids had a great time  going on a red, orange, golden, and yellow leaf hunt around the always beautiful Red Rock Canyon today!  It was a very nice afternoon!

These trees are still green...

Ah-ha! Here are some changing leaves (and a big hug)!

The grasses and plants in the Red Spring meadow are starting to turn shades of red!

Some more signs of Autumn in the golden tipped branches among the red rocks
(accompanied by more hugging).

Tyler and Siena completely LOVED this grasshopper for whatever reason, they spent forever just watching this little guy and blew him kisses when they finally had to move on.
