Siena's Head

As many of you know, we've been going through a bit of a stressful and concerning couple of weeks with Siena. Almost two weeks ago now, she started having involuntary, jerky head movements. We didn't know what was going on with her, and while she seemed unfazed by it, it was pretty frightening for us. We took her to the pediatrician on a Saturday morning, and were told that if it continued through the day she needed to go to the ER at the children's hospital in town. So, we spend the rest of that afternoon and evening in the ER having many tests run on our sweet little girl.

They were able to rule out pretty much all of the immediately life threatening conditions that the doctors thought might be causing her problem (such as a brain tumor), but they really weren't able to give us any answers. After a few more doctor's visits we now have a referral to a neurologist, but he is pretty booked up, so there is a wait of a couple of weeks. At this point, the worst case scenario we are looking at is that Siena has been having seizures. But we'll have to wait to see the neurologist, do some more testing, and get those test results back. We will be sure to keep everyone posted as we know anything new.

In the meantime, we didn't want to just wait around and worry about our beautiful baby girl, so, with the help of Kristen's sister, Melody and brother-in-law, David, we contacted David's father. Kent Ward is a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine and a very gifted and generous man! Over this last weekend our family drove to Arizona and Dr. Ward looked at Siena. He felt a bone out of place in her head that he believed could be causing her to have seizures. He was able to reposition the bone. We have not seen her have any more involuntary head movements since then, and are hopeful that they have stopped completely! While we will still be following up with our neurologist appointment, we are all breathing a little easier right now.

Dr. Ward also looked at Tyler after we told him about the concerns there have been with Tyler's heart having an arrhythmia in the past. He was able to readjust Tyler a little bit also!
